Voyta Karas was named the winner of the 2010 Metropolitan Collegiate Swimming and Diving Conference’s Dick Krempecki Outstanding Senior Award after helping to lead the Pioneers to two new relay records.
WAYNE, N.J. – Men’s swimming senior Voyta Karas (Brno, Czech Republic) was named the William Paterson Pioneer of the Week Feb. 22.

Karas was named the winner of the 2010 Metropolitan Collegiate Swimming and Diving Conference’s Dick Krempecki Outstanding Senior Award. In addition to contributing to school records in the 200 medley (1:38.59) and 400 medley (3:37.67) relays, Karas established a new school record in the 100 back (52.91) while competing at the Mets Feb. 19-21. He was just touched out by .01 to place second in the 50 free (20.89) and swim a NCAA Championships B qualifying standard, finished fourth in the 100 free A Final (46.67), and was seventh in the 200 free A Final (1:44.43). He also helped lead the Pioneer 200 free relay to a seventh-place effort (1:27.53) and an eighth-place finish in the 800 free relay (7:23.51).
