Women are Fourth after First Day at Metropolitan Championships

Pair of Relays Lead Pioneers' Opening Efforts

Senior Caitlin Rotondo and the Pioneers were fourth after the first day of competition at the Metropolitan Championships.
PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- The William Paterson women's swimming and diving team stood fourth of 14 Division III teams after the first day of competition at the 2010 Metropolitan Championships Feb. 19 at the Rutgers Aquatic Center.

Sophomore Brett Kuchin (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill East) was third (2:17.91) and senior Caitlin Rotondo (Brick, N.J./Methacton) touched eighth (2:19.67) in the C Final of the 200 IM. The 200 free relay of Rotondo, freshman Taylor McKay (Fair Lawn, N.J./Fair Lawn), freshman Christine Uporsky (Washington, N.J./Warren Hills Regional) and Kuchin placed eighth in the A Final (1:42.86), and junior Tara Graham (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Hills), Kuchin, McKay and Rotondo won the B Final of the 400 medley relay (4:13.73).

The Pioneers will compete in the second day of the Metropolitan Championships Saturday, Feb. 20.
