The Pioneers will host SUNY Old Westbury in the ECAC Tournament first round Wednesday, Nov. 11, at 5:00 p.m.
CAPE COD, MASS. -- Second-seeded William Paterson (10-7-3) will host seventh-seeded SUNY Old Westbury (8-8-2) in the first round of the 2009 ECAC Women’s Soccer Metro Region Tournament Wednesday, Nov. 11, at 5:00 p.m. at Pioneer Soccer Park. The winner of the William Paterson/Old Westbury match will advance to the semifinals Saturday, Nov. 14, at 4:00 p.m. at NJIT's Lubetkin Field in Newark, N.J., against the winner of the No. 3 New Jersey City/No. 6 Mount Saint Mary first-round match. Top-seeded NYU has a first-round bye, and awaits the winner of the No. 4 Bard/No. 5 SUNY Purchase match in the other semifinal Nov. 14 at 1:30 p.m. The championship match will be hosted by NYU Sunday, Nov. 15, at Lubetkin Field at time to be determined.

William Paterson, under the direction of 13th-year head coach and 2009 New Jersey Athletic Conference Co-Coach of the Year Keith Woods, is 10-7-3 overall and 5-2-2 in NJAC play this season. The Pioneers defeated Montclair State, 2-0, in the NJAC Tournament first round Oct. 31, and lost in the semifinals to eventual-champion The College of New Jersey, 3-0, Nov. 3.

Junior back Ali Ruddy (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Valley), a second-team all-NJAC selection, leads William Paterson with 15 points (6 g, 3 a). Also a second-team all-league honoree, sophomore Megan Droelle (Hampton, N.J./North Hunterdon) has accumulated 13 points (6 g, 1 a), and junior Drea Wagoner (Little Falls, N.J./Passaic Valley) ranks third in scoring with eight points (3 g, 2 a).

Senior Meaghan Baker (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Knolls) has tallied a 0.94 goals-against average, a .769 save percentage and six shutouts in goal.

William Paterson returned six starters and 12 letterwinners from a 2008 team that compiled a 10-7-1 overall record and a 4-4-1 mark in NJAC play, advancing to the NJAC and ECAC Metro Tournaments.
