PITMAN, N.J. – William Paterson freshman forward
Michelle Marabondo (Kenvil, N.J./Roxbury) was named the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Women's Soccer Rookie of the Week on Nov. 16.
Marabondo was selected as the Most Outstanding Player of the ECAC Metro Region Tournament, helping to lead the Pioneers to the title by scoring six goals in three matches. She had a hat trick, scoring the first, third and fourth goals of a 4-0 first-round win against Old Westbury Nov. 11, and her goal with 33 seconds left lifted WP to a 2-1 semifinal victory against New Jersey City Nov. 14. Marabondo then scored both goals, including the game winner 5:39 into overtime, during a 2-1 championship win against top-seeded NYU Nov. 15.
This marked the second time this season that Marabondo was named the NJAC Rookie of the Week, as she earned the same accolade on Nov. 2.
William Paterson finished the season 13-7-3 overall and 5-2-2 in NJAC play, reaching the semifinals of the NJAC Tournament and winning the ECAC Metro Region Tournament title.
