GLASSBORO, N.J. – William Paterson (26-14-1) pushed across two runs during the top of the seventh inning but could not plate the tying run, falling to 20th-ranked Rowan (27-11), 3-2, in the first round of the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Softball Tournament May 4.
The third-seeded and defending-champion Pioneers will try to stave off elimination when they face sixth-seeded Richard Stockton (22-13) Friday, May 7, at The College of New Jersey’s Lions’ Park at 1:00 p.m.

PITMAN, N.J. – William Paterson (26-13-1) will look to successfully defend its 2009 title when the Pioneers begin New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Softball Tournament play at Rowan (26-11) Tuesday, May 4, at 4:00 p.m.
The fourth-seeded Pioneers will face off against the third-seeded Profs for the second time in just four days. In the regular-season finale for both schools May 1, host William Paterson began the doubleheader with a 2-1, eight-inning win. Rowan battled back to take the night cap, 3-0.

WAYNE, N.J. – William Paterson (26-13-1, 11-7 NJAC) celebrated Senior Day with a doubleheader split against No. 20 Rowan (26-11, 12-6 NJAC), 2-1 in eight innings and 0-3, in the softball regular-season finale for both schools May 1. After the twin bill, the Pioneers honored their three seniors -- Lacey Santone (South Plainfield, N.J./South Plainfield), Casey Sierra (Ringwood, N.J./Lakeland Regional) and Christina Zippler (Blackwood, N.J./Washington Twp.).
The Pioneers will be the fourth seed in the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Tournament, and will play a first-round game at third-seeded Rowan Tuesday, May 4. Top-seeded The College of New Jersey will host the remainder of the double-elimination tourney Friday-Sunday, May 7-9.
