WAYNE, N.J. -- The William Paterson softball team will begin its 2010 season at the Rebel Spring Games in Kissimmee, Fla., March 13-19. 

WP will play eight home doubleheaders at Pioneer Softball Field, opening its home slate Friday, March 26, against Baruch at 3:00 p.m.  William Paterson will start New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) play at home against New Jersey City Friday, April 2, at 1:00 p.m.

The William Paterson softball program will host a total of five sessions of the "Winning Ways" youth clinics Jan. 30, Jan. 31 and Feb. 7.

CAPE COD, MASS. – William Paterson senior third baseman Meghan Reilly (Middlesex, N.J./Middlesex) was named the ECAC Softball Metro Region Player of the Year, and joined sophomore teammates Lindsey Nadolny (Bedford, N.J./Middletown North) and Jenna Vitale (Kenilworth, N.J./David Brearley) on the ECAC Metro All-Star First Team, the group announced May 28.

WAYNE, N.J. – William Paterson senior third baseman Meghan Reilly (Middlesex, N.J./Middlesex) has been named to the Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III All-America Second Team, the group announced May 14.

A first-team NFCA all-East Region and all-New Jersey Athletic Conference selection this spring, Reilly became the fourth Pioneer to win the NJAC Player of the Year award in program history when she received the accolade this spring.

WAYNE, N.J. – Softball junior center fielder Christina Zippler (Blackwood, N.J./Washington Twp.) was named the William Paterson Pioneer of the Week May 11.

Zippler earned a spot on the NCAA Division III Softball Tournament Mahwah Region First Round All-Tournament Team May 7-10 after batting .313 with a double, home run, seven RBI and six runs scored to help lead the Pioneers to the Regional final.

MAHWAH, N.J. – Second-seeded William Paterson (35-8) continued to battle but could not overcome top-seeded Messiah (39-4) during the final of the NCAA Softball Tournament Mahwah Regional May 10, falling 6-1 to the Falcons. Earning spots on the All-Tournament Team for the Pioneers were senior third baseman Meghan Reilly (Middlesex, N.J./Middlesex), junior center fielder Christina Zippler (Blackwood, N.J./Washington Twp.), freshman pitcher Michele Graham (Hawthorne, N.J./Hawthorne), and sophomore at-large selection/designated player Jenna Vitale (Kenilworth, N.J./David Brearley).

MAHWAH, N.J. – Junior Christina Zippler’s (Blackwood, N.J./Washington Twp.) three-run homer during the top of the second inning proved to be the difference as second-seeded William Paterson (35-8) defeated third-seeded Rowan (35-12), 8-3, May 10 to advance to the NCAA Softball Tournament Mahwah Regional final at Ramapo College. With the win, head coach Hallie Cohen earned her 400th victory as the mentor of the Pioneers (400-204-2, 15th season).
