Freshman Michelle Marabondo was named the Most Outstanding Player of the ECAC Metro Tournament after scoring six goals in three matches.
PITMAN, N.J. – William Paterson freshman forward Michelle Marabondo (Kenvil, N.J./Roxbury) was named the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Women’s Soccer Rookie of the Week on Nov. 16.

Marabondo was selected as the Most Outstanding Player of the ECAC Metro Region Tournament, helping to lead the Pioneers to the title by scoring six goals in three matches. She had a hat trick, scoring the first, third and fourth goals of a 4-0 first-round win against Old Westbury Nov. 11, and her goal with 33 seconds left lifted WP to a 2-1 semifinal victory against New Jersey City Nov. 14.

WAYNE, N.J. - Women's soccer senior goalkeeper Meaghan Baker (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Knolls) was named the William Paterson Pioneer of the Week Nov. 16.

Baker's outstanding play between the posts helped to lead the Pioneers to the ECAC Metro Region Tournament title. She made one save in 81:20 of action during a 4-0 first-round win against Old Westbury Nov. 11, and had three saves in a 2-1 semifinal victory against New Jersey City Nov. 14. Baker posted three stops during a 2-1 overtime win against NYU in the final Nov. 15, including a spectacular save during the opening minutes of overtime to keep the score tied.

NEWARK, N.J. - Freshman Michelle Marabondo (Kenvil, N.J./Roxbury) provided the game-winning goal for the second straight day for the Pioneers, this one 5:39 into overtime, as second-seeded William Paterson (13-7-3) defeated top-seeded NYU (10-8-1), 2-1, to win the 2009 ECAC Women's Soccer Metro Region Tournament title Nov. 15 at NJIT's Lubetkin Field.

Marabondo, who scored both goals for WP against the Violets, was named the ECAC Metro Tournament's Most Outstanding Player.

NEWARK, N.J. - Freshman Michelle Marabondo's (Kenvil, N.J./Roxbury) goal with 33 seconds left gave second-seeded William Paterson (12-7-3) a 2-1 come-from-behind victory against third-seeded New Jersey City (13-9) in the semifinals of the ECAC Women's Soccer Metro Region Tournament Nov. 14 at NJIT's Lubetkin Field.

The Pioneers will play top-seeded NYU in the championship match of the ECAC Metro Tournament Sunday, Nov. 15, at 2:00 p.m. at NJIT's Lubetkin Field. The Violets reached the final with a 1-0 victory against fourth-seeded Bard in the first semifinal of the day.

WAYNE, N.J. – Freshman Michelle Marabondo (Kenvil, N.J./Roxbury) scored a hat trick as second-seeded William Paterson (11-7-3) advanced to the ECAC Women’s Soccer Metro Region Tournament semifinals with a 4-0 first-round victory against seventh-seeded Old Westbury (8-9-2) Nov. 11.

The Pioneers will play third-seeded New Jersey City (13-8) in the ECAC semifinals Saturday, Nov. 14, at 4:00 p.m. at NJIT’s Lubetkin Field. The winner of that contest will move on to the championship match Sunday, Nov. 15, at Lubetkin Field at a time to be determined.

CAPE COD, Mass. – Already selected as the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, William Paterson’s Meaghan Baker (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Knolls) earned the same award from the ECAC Metro Region Nov. 3.

Baker, a senior goalkeeper, made 12 saves while allowing one goal in 270:00 minutes of action. She had eight stops during a 2-0 victory against Montclair State Oct. 26, a win that locked up a home match for the Pioneers in the NJAC Tournament.

PITMAN, N.J. – William Paterson’s Keith Woods was named the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Women’s Soccer Co-Coach of the Year, leading a list of six Pioneer honorees announced Nov. 3.

Sophomore forward Megan Droelle (Hampton, N.J./North Hunterdon) and junior back Ali Ruddy (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Valley) were selected to the All-NJAC Second Team, while junior back Vikki Cicak (Wharton, N.J./Morris Knolls), sophomore back Ashley Grabowski (Woodbridge, N.J./Woodbridge) and junior midfielder Kathleen Maggi (New Milford, N.J./New Milford) were honorable-mention honorees.
