WAYNE, N.J. (JULY 7, 2010) – William Paterson student-athletes Dan Jones (Riverhead, N.Y./Riverhead) and Abdoulaye Ouedraogo (Newark, N.J./Newark Science) were selected as Arthur Ashe, Jr. Sports-Scholars by Diverse Issues in Higher Education Magazine.

PRINCETON, N.J. - Former William Paterson men's basketball standout Abdoulaye Ouedraogo (Newark, N.J./Newark Science) was honored with the New Jersey Athletic Conference's top individual accolade when he was presented with the Male Athlete of the Year award June 6.

A senior this past winter, Ouedraogo was a 2009-10 second-team National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) all-American, the NJAC Player and Defensive Player of the Year, and a member of the NABC All-Atlantic Region First Team, All-Metropolitan Basketball Coaches Association First Team, All-NJAC First Team, D3hoops.com All-Atlantic Region Second Team and ECAC All-Metro Region First Team.

WAYNE, N.J. - William Paterson's Jose Rebimbas was selected as the Metropolitan Basketball Coaches Association's Division III Coach of the Year April 16, while senior forward Abdoulaye Ouedraogo (Newark, N.J./Newark Science) was named to the All-Met First Team and senior guard Joseph Ellis (Newark, N.J./Newark Science) was a second-team honoree.

Ouedraogo also was named to the NABC All-Atlantic Region First Team, while Jose Rebimbas was selected as the group's Atlantic Region Coach of the Year and senior guard Joseph Ellis (Newark, N.J./Newark Science) was a second-team all-region honoree.

SALEM, VA. – William Paterson’s Abdoulaye Ouedraogo (Newark, N.J./Newark Science) will play in the inaugural National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division III Men’s Senior All-Star Game Saturday, March 20. The game will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. in Salem, Va., at the site of the 2010 NCAA Tournament Final Four. Live video of the game will be available online.

The champions of the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Tournament, No. 7 William Paterson (25-2, 12-1 NJAC) will host Albertus Magnus (22-6) in the first round of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament Friday, March 5, at 8:00 p.m. at the Rec Center. Live statistics and a live video feed will be available.  The first 150 William Paterson students with valid ID will be admitted for free, courtesy of the Office of the Dean of Students and Residence Life.  General admission is $6.00, and students, children 12 and under and senior citizens will be admitted for $3.00.

WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson men’s (25-2, 12-1 NJAC) and women’s (25-2, 12-1 NJAC) basketball teams stayed in the top 10 of the Division III national rankings March 2, as the Pioneer men moved up three spots to seventh in the D3hoops.com Top 25 Poll, and the Pioneer women slipped from eighth to 10th in the USA Today/ESPN/Women’s Basketball Coaches Association and ninth in the D3hoops.com Top 25 Polls.
